Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Assessors July 26, 2010

Pepperell, MA

The meeting opened at 7 PM with Michael Coffey, Bray Walsh and Susan Smith in attendance.

Vouchers were signed for Patriot Properties and payroll

Warrants to the Collector for MVE 10-2009 and 4 of 2010 were signed

Contracts with Patriot Properties for FY 2012 and a three year agreement for FY 2013, 2014 and 2015 were signed.

The Board received a response from John Moak regarding the communication made June 7^th that Susan not lose her vacation time as she has not been able to take an adequate amount due to staffing cuts. Moak’s reply was that he did not bring the matter to the Personnel Board’s attention but that the personnel by-law gives an employee 60 days to reduce accrued vacation time to less than 360 hours. Susan is very displeased with Moak’s inaction and feels he should have brought the specific matter before the Personnel Board.

Given this latest unsatisfactory interaction, coupled with events of the last year regarding extreme cuts to Assessors staff, Susan is tentatively planning to retire March 1, 2011. The Board regrets actions taken by the Board of Selectmen and the Personnel Administrator which influenced Susan’s decision to leave her post earlier than previously planned.

Minutes for June and April were approved by the Board. No regular meeting was held in May.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 13^th as the first Monday of the month is a holiday.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
